Come and enjoy a unique and unforgettable experience in the caves with our dedicated adventure tours. Although there are several huge caves in Central Vietnam, Tham Phay Cave is a major new discovery in the north and another great reason to visit Ba Be National Park, which is a area of limestone karst mountains surrounding spectacular lakes. Any visitors will feel that they are true explorers as nothing in the cave has yet been documented by geologists.

Day 1.

For your convenience, we will pick you up at your hotel in Hanoi at 8:00 AM and drive to Thai Nguyen to visit the marvellous Museum of the Culture of the Ethnic Minorities of Vietnam, followed by lunch in a street restaurant.

We arrival Ba Be National Park in early afternoon, leaving time free for cycling around ethnic minority villages or kayaking on Ba Be Lake. Dinner and overnight at traditional stilt house in Tay village.

Day 2.

Our car will pick you up from your homestay for travelling to Hua Ma cave. This is a dry cave in Quang Khe Commune, ranked among the most beautiful and interesting caves in the national park because of its magnificent stalactites and the legend that has been told for generations. We then drive to Silk waterfall where we have a picnic lunch before getting to the trail for hiking on Lung Loong mountain.

This part of the trek is not too difficult, crossing terraced rice fields and corn hills to the campsite. The campsite is located at the base of rice fields, by a stream next to the entrance of Tham Phay. Camp will be set up and tea or coffee will be supplied as well as a delicious dinner served by our local chef. This is a true rural camp and a great experience around campfire listening to the sounds of the jungle

Day 3.

We will spend 3 hours exploring about 3 km of this river cave.

From the campsite, we hike to the entrance of Tham Phay. Here we put on our Petzl helmets and Hope Technology 1500 lumen head lamps. Once inside the low opening the cave enlarges dramatically and we explore the high level series with excellent photographic opportunities. Enjoy the beautiful formations, enormous passage and Underground River, again with many photographic opportunities.

The cave itself is limestone karst formed by water erosion over millions of years, resulting in an incredible subterranean landscape.

The main body of the cave stretches underground for about three thousand metres following a mineral rich underground river. Inside the chambers of the cave are a variety of stalagmite columns reaching heights of up to forty metres, mirrored by large stalactite formations hanging from the ceiling. Leaving Tham Phay we will have lunch in campsite then travel back to homestay for dinner and overnight

Day 4.

After breakfast at the homestay, we will go on foot to Bo Lu boat station to embark on a 3-hour boat trip, gently touring around the lake. If you need to cool off, this is a great opportunity to jump into the river for a swim - so refreshing! The boat takes you by the slow flowing river, giving you ample opportunity to gaze in awe at the dramatic mountains and valleys and natural caves. You will also get the chance to enjoy some bird and butterfly spotting - the national park is home to a vast variety of flora and fauna. The boat will progress through the Puong cave, which forms a natural tunnel through which the river flows, and has thousands of stalactites and stalagmites as well as a bat colony, several thousand strong. You can rest your legs on the drive back to Hanoi, stopping for lunch at a local restaurant on the way. We should arrive in Hanoi at about 5:30 PM and you will be ped off at your hotel in Hanoi.
